What is it with doctors and blood? I’ve heard that a prices are high these days (well if you don’t have an insurance - which I do), however this is ridiculous. In light of the previous post, I did manage to get to the doctor yesterday. And what does she say? “We’ll talk more after the blood analysis”.

This morning I dutifully reported back there, so her nurse could have my blood samples, only to be tortured for about 10 minutes (because she coldn’t find a ‘proper’ vein). In the end, it was her that freaked out, when I’ve experienced a nasty bout of nausea. As for me, I kept wondering: “So what? We’re in a hospital, right?”

Next, I’ve payed a visit to the endocrinologist (on the other side of the town), who despite turning out to be a very nice young lady, sent me for yet another blood analysis (this time for some hormones). To my credit, I made sure she sent me to a different center, maybe those will be able to find my vein.

So here’s to hoping that tomorrow I won’t freak out anyone. I’ll have to make sure I’m well out of their visual range, in case I need to faint. After all… they’re just medical staff. How could I possibly expect them to know what to do in such cases?!

Oh that sucks so much! I hate having blood samples taken from me. It’s the worst. Good luck!

I would have a fricken hernia if I had a nurse that fucken poked around me for that long. I’m petrified of needles and usually need sedation to get blood drawn. *shudder* Goodluck.

Hahaha. Oh man, reminds me of that time a month ago when I went for my allergy test.

They took a whole ten minutes just to get the entire test done because they just couldn’t find the right vein. :(

And I thought most medical staff are trained to remain calm in panic situations? Oh man.

yup… “most” medical staff. The nurse today didn’t have a problem (I DID warn her in advance)… then again, she did find the “right” vein.

*shudders* I’m terrified of blood - even my own. I once watched as my dad, who’s a nurse, drained some blood samples out of me. I nearly vomited and fainted.

    Just don’t look!

I’m terrified of getting my blood taken at the doctor’s office because of a bad experience I had when I was a kid =X They usually end up repeatedly poking me because they can’t find a vein or my arm is too thin, blah. I hope everything turns out fine, though, & there isn’t anything wrong with you [=

Hahaha! Though I do agree with you, nurses aren’t supposed to freak if someone faints… Last time I went to the doc. I had a really nice lady taking my bloodsample, so it was pretty OK lol.

Good luck with your nect appointment!
    *hugs*

That’s really stupid! A nurse should calm you down and take care of you if you faint, not get mad.
And finding the right vein… it seems really hard, they once ruined my arm completely because of the nurse being really stupid.

When I was pregnant I had bloodsamples taken every 2nd week because I was diabetic - “was” because it was related to my pregnancy and is gone today. I can certainly remember the “I cannot find your vein” nurses - and at the time when I finally gave birth my arm could belong to a junkie.

Hopefully they will track down one of your veins and hopefully you are completely well!

I don’t mind getting blood drawn. I’m a little confused as to if that’s the problem you were having? You were nervous about it? Then again, they’ve never had problems getting blood from me. I get a, ‘Stick out your arm… oh, this is going to be -easy-’ : P I would prefer to have blood drawn to getting a shot -any- freakin day : / I HATE shots. I hyperventillate and laugh hysterically : ) The doctors always are uncomfortable when I start doing that.

Yeah, when I went to get my blood taken it took the nurse awhile to find the vein XD Well, the easiest way to see what’s wrong with you is through your blood, so yeah.

I’m sure the vein’s there, just not…easy to find XD
