Mouse User Extraordinaire
[edit2] Taking smart advice yet again, I moved all my links to the Links page, and removed the obligatory link exchanges. I always return comments, but with links I decided to be more “elitist”. Also, the Review page has been redone, to make browsing easier.[/edit2]
[edit]Please excuse the mess, as I’m attempting to upgrade WordPress … hopefully I will not mess it up… too bad Seems like it worked fine… aside the slow upload speed. [/edit]
In case you’re not “snarky” (i.e. a member of Snark Forums), you might have missed the fact that I finally have a job. And not just any job: I’m a junior C++ developer. This of course means that I’m the lowest of the low, but I’m payed reasonably well for it (and I also like what I’m doing… which right now is not THAT much
), so…
Getting a new job though, also means getting a thorough medical examination… and a having blood taken of course. Ironically enough, it wasn’t the blood sampling that unsettled me most, but my inability to fully straighten my right arm.
After much deliberation, my mom came to the conclusion that it must be due to my excessive mouse usage… I once tried to browse the Internet using the keyboard (because University computers’ mice tend to go missing), but the most I managed was accessing my e-mail account. And even then, I could just stare at my messages…
tar:
So kids: beware of using the mouse! You might just end up like me: completely and utterly dependent of it. :hmm:

I don’t quite understand – why do you have to have a blood/health test before you get the job? Surely they should have hired you simply on the basis of your skills and abilities, rather than whether you were healthy…

If that happens to me, I’m going to be screwed! I have three immunisations shots in the next few months!

Ahhh, mouse dependency!!! I feel like I’m not because I CAN use the keyboard for everything… Battery powered mice also tend to go dead… ha.
Hope you enjoy the new job.

A junior C++ developer… well, I already thought you’re crazy when I read “one true love is C#”
But congrats on the job!
My PC is a little messed up so sometimes (actually quite often) the mouse will just stop. It’s REALLY REALLY REALLY frustrating because all my work for class is made on the PC. God thanks I have my mom’s laptop with amazing 3GB or Space and 128 MB of RAM. JOY!!

I don’t understand either why you had to go through the medical examination. Is that customary procedure in Romania when you’re hired for a job?

But congrats on the job!

Amanda and Susie: The law requires companies to pay all new employees medical examination. Plus every six months I have to go for checkups. They hired me based on an interview and a test.
marMarmar: Laptop mouse is different
. I meant regular desktop computers.
Tracy: C# is easier than C++ (no pointers), plus when you program using Visual Studio.Net you don’t need to remember ANY language details. A pop-up menu comes up to ask what function you want to use

I didn’t congratulate you yet, so congratulations
I am surprise to hear you’re a mouse junky. Most (I typed mouset
) web geeks are usually keyboard monkeys!

Thanks
… I definitely prefer typing to moving the mouse around. But I also like drag and drop programming environments (I will not be caught often, trying to write code for a textbox, when I can just click once with the mouse).
I think I use them both an equal amount. Some applications (like Media Player and Internet explorer) are not keyboard friendly enough though

*grin* I’m not dependent of my mouse xD I can use the keyboard. And I think I would be able to stretch my arm the required amount xD
Congratulations on your job
I hope you do well

Congrats on the job!!!!!!!!! I am very excited for you for we all know that C++ is the superior language. Plus, you can now go out and say to people, “I’m a developer,” which is just about the best that it gets.
I am able to use my keyboard for many things. In fact, I have gotten by with just a keyboard and nothing else. It’s because the keyboard is really just an extension of my body (I wish).
Vera

Oh… but I DO that a lot  … dunno if that’s the best thing ever (I’m quite impressed with my current dentist
).
hehe… an extension of your body: mom used to joke that I’ll end up being one with the computer :buckteeth:

Sometimes when my husband makes a dangerous move when we are driving our car I find myself grabbing out after the mouse – it provides me with great comfort and security. That is rahter sick isn’t it?
Congratulation on your job! You deserve the best!

Lindsey: heh, yeah that too
Nan: if it helps… but do you carry it with you everywhere?

Whoa.. junior C++ developer! That sounds quite fascinating to me. Congrats getting the job

I’ve never use the keyboard to surf the internet. I love my mouse WAY too much. It’s basically glued to my hand.
Heh, take care

Oooh congrats! I don’t really know what a junior C++ developer is but you’re excited about it so yay!

Kat: I develop (create) software written in C++ (as well as C#)… well not in their entirety of course. Yay for team work (and less responsibility for me).
Junior means I’m a rookie.
