Oh Noes: Intimacy!
My computer is finally back… after apparently not having had a problem. Which begs the question of why it would announce it that it had a Hard Disk Failure1 :hmm: ? In any case, it makes me appreciate my PC even more… things look really weird on dad’s laptop; some of Snark‘s smileys seem to be turned around by about 45 degrees
My company decided to give its female employees a wonderful Women’s Day gift: a Gift Card to a fancy spa. This has kept me giddy most of the week, expecting some sort of miracle. Seeing that my figure is not exactly what one would call ideal, I did have a few misgivings, especially as a coworker had gone before me and got a man masseur; still a gift’s a gift, and I wasn’t about to let it go to waste. My mom, of course, had to try to dampen my good mood, right before I left:
Mom: Can’t you choose something other than that massage?
Me: I can… but I don’t want to.
Mom: Well… you can always refuse the massage part.
Me: WHAT?! It’s the spa of a 5-star hotel. Why would I want to refuse a massage?!
Mom: But it’s so intimate! I wouldn’t want to do that.
Me: I’m going for a massage… not for sex! :rolleye:
I obviously didn’t refuse the massage, however I was slightly disappointed. Unlike the heroines in my chiklit novels, I didn’t experience any kind of ecstatic feelings. It was good and relaxing (aside the part when I thought she – I got a woman masseuse :boogie: – would tear off my right arm).
Any of you gone for a massage? If I ever decide to go again, what would you recommend I try?
__________
1 for those you not keeping up with my various moans: a week ago, my PC suddenly slowed down and froze on me:, refusing to boot again, when I hit reset.

Some days I really think I could use a massage…
Vera: you’re not the only one

Oh, I’d need a massage. I’d go with you in a second. My neck is so stiff.
Is Romania like Thailand? Because there you might get more than a massage haha…
That’s so sweet of your work to give you gifts like that. I want to work there too! No wait, I don’t
Vera: so that’s where mom got her ideas. Since I only went to this one massage, I wouldn’t know.

A massage?! You let someone else’s hands touch your naked self?!
You harlot! :O
Vera: I had my underwear on

How nice! I’d like a massage. I haven’t had one before and due to self-consciousness I wouldn’t want any hot guys giving me my first one. -_-;
Vera: I totally get it… ever since I heard my colleagues got a man (they didn’t comment on the hotness: one is married and the other in a serious relationship). But the woman I got wasn’t particularly young (30+) or pretty. She was very thin though

My mate gives me a massages every once in a while. He did a year long course to be a masseuse before university. I would recommend an Indian head massage – it makes you feel amazing! \_0_/ Or if you can handle the pain a sports massage makes your entire body feel brand new, after the swelling goes down that is.
Vera: swelling… er not right now then XD

I’ve never gone, but to be honest, I feel weird and uncomfortable if anyone else besides my boyfriend rubs me because it does feel kind of intimate to me. :/
Vera: I felt somewhat uncomfortable at first as well, but in 5 minutes I really didn’t care. She was highly professional.

Your mum’s right, in many Asian countries (and well, I suppose all over the world as well!) a “massage” is most definitely a euphemism for that ‘extra service’.
I’d also recommend getting a facial if you haven’t already. A good facial done by the right person is the most incredible stress-reliever, I’ve fallen asleep many a time because of it!
Vera: not to worry, I don’t think people here use such “sophisticated” euphemisms for sex as of yet

Computers crashing down is always a pain. On the other side, getting them revived never fails to give one a light feeling.
A spa! I have never experienced it. Someday… :fist:
Vera:if I hadn’t had a gift card I probably wouldn’t have gone either. Prices there weren’t very cheap

Lol I like how your mom assumed because she wouldn’t like it you wouldn’t either. I never gotten a massage before because I am very, very ticklish. If you are looking for another place you can try online to see if they have review sites for it. I am pretty sure they do.
Vera: I’m also horribly ticklish, when she tried my toes … XD

No need to go to Thailand to get more than a massage!
Two things:
1. While massages can be “just relaxing” (my aunt is a professional masseuse and gives me massages at times!), it does also have a sexual connotation and can be part of a seduction process. *speaks from experience*
2. There are places in Canada where the massage can include masturbation (it’s a genital massage!), and there are debates as to whether or not this falls under prostitution. Then of course, I doubt the company you work at would give its employees a gift card to go in such a place!
Vera: … right Thailand or Canada… I think they’re both very far, just in opposite directions

I like massages, in theory. But I am very ticklish, so after about two seconds, I start laughing and wriggling around. My friend used to give us neck massages with this tingly oil, and I would always be tense, then she would get me to relax, and it would tickle so much that I ended up kicking the wall pretty hard, which hurt. Ow.
Vera: when she first did my toes, I nearly kicked her XD

Ooh, nice gift! I’d totally take up on something like that if my company offered.
And LOL your mom sounds just like mine.
She’d probably say that as well, haha!
I’ve never really had a professional massage like that before but I wouldn’t care who it was as long as they were good at it and I felt rejuvinated afterward. I’ve heard of people going in for massages and coming out feeling like they just got tackled by an entire football team. Owch.
Vera: I didn’t feel rejuvenated, but my slight muscle pain (from the aerobic class two days before) was gone, so that’s something I guess.

wow, my company wouldn’t do something like that. ‘Course they’re paying me for doing this so i shouldn’t complain.
lol, your mom’s funny.
I never had a massage, but I did get a facial last month and she did massage my neck and that was pretty great. I’ve heard that they can be dangerous though. Hit the wrong spot too hard and you could wind up paralyzed. Though that’s pretty uncommon I think. I hope anyway…
glad you came out of yours alive!
Vera: you do realize you’ve effectively put me off a facial.

Oh my gosh you lucky bum! I want a massage! But I’d feel embarrassed cause my boobs are small.
Vera: LMAO… I always feel embarrassed because mine are too big. XD

lmfao! Your mom seems hilarious! My mom would call me crazy, if she knew I turned down a massage, that Jeff already paid for!….let alone, say “sex” in front of her. lol.
There was a tiny spa not too far from where I used to work, that was busted for extra services XD
Anyhow, I hear that deep tissue massages are the best, though, you have to have gone for other massages a few times, before getting one. Well, you don’t have to, though it is recommended, since it is at first, pretty painful
Vera: well I asked for a list of things they offer… and they weren’t very cheap. I guess I could afford to choose one thing a month, but I suppose that wouldn’t be very effective.

Heheh… your mom sounds like my dad XD
It’s kinda cute when they are overprotective like that, but very annoying when they really can’t control it.
Good that you got the massage though. I’ve never gotten one, not that my father would let me (lol).
Vera: oh my dad’s really opposite of the dad stereotype; he encourages me to go and meet boys, he was very keen that I go and have the massage (especially since it was free and all), he generally laughs at my drama queen antics… I think I got the stereotypes mixed with my parents (dad getting the mom stereotype and mom the dad stereotype) XD

At my old school, during exam week, they (the school administrators) bought in massage therapists that gave out free 30 minute massages to students. It was the best. Never had a message at a spa, but it would be lovely right about now.
Vera: where did you say you live? I think I could pass for a 17-year-old

Massages by people who are really close to me – like my mum, are fine. Like those normal back and neck massage whenever I am far too stressed, or after sitting at my desk for an entire day.
Massages by other people … I’d feel uncomfortable, personally. Never been to a spa, not even a foot reflexology.
But I guess it’s up to the individual! Most people are fine with it though. Most of my family members enjoy massages – even by other people!
Vera: there’s a much cheaper massage salon closer to my house and I’ve been pondering on whether or not to go there once, but I chickened out. I thought I’d feel very embarrassed. I guess it depends on a person doing the massage. I guess part of the job is to make sure your client feels at ease.

I’ve always wanted a massage! I need it, too. I’m always stressed out and tense. One day I’m going to go and get myself a massage. Maybe once I graduate in May. I’ll be a gift for myself.
Vera: sounds like a great graduation gift

My sister is doing a beauty therapy course at college and she needed someone to practice massage on and I volunteered. It felt really good afterwards and I felt really relaxed.
Vera: *kidnaps Cherry’s sister* You don’t mind, do you?

My job gives there employees free monthly massages. The lady masseuse that comes in is very nice, although sometimes her massages in the neck area tend to hurt. (but I have no base for comparison to tell if it supposed to be like that or not) She does get us all very relaxed, especially since we sit in front of a computer for 6-7 hours everyday and have to argue with stubborn clients sometimes. It helps a lot! If it weren’t free, I probably wouldn’t do it. >_<
Vera: nice… free massages.

I’d like to go have a massage at a spa. I went to a therapeutic masseuse once… holy cow they are the most sadistic people on earth lol. I could feel her elbows in my stomach.
Vera: I had a classmate offer to massage my shoulders in high school, it was excrutiating. XP
