Because stuff happens to be much harder to do when you don’t have Photoshop’s inbuilt custom shapes and transformation options I get to procrastinate more… AND confuse myself even more. So far, I’ve managed to start watching 10 new anime series, out of which I only managed to drop one.1…
So till I manage to get more proficient with Pain.NET, here’s a question for you.
What do I - as a webmistress - remind you of?
Yeah, that’s the problem, my layouts are not “representative” enough… yeah.
Oh right, if you have any suggestions on how to motivate myself more efficiently, feel free to share.

Well, you remind me (and I might seem stupid for this) Romania, computer science, smart people, feminine, your hair, friendly, un-frequent blogger (hint, hint :p), anime lover,and much more I don’t quite remember right now. Maybe the layout itself doesn’t have to relate to you, but a symbol/icon/logo should.

You remind me of… Well, I don’t know really, I mean, I have an image of Snark people in my mind, but they’re hard to describe, and hardly ever look like the actual persons… (They look more like their avatars *lol*)

I was thinking of trying to draw a chibi girl with a computer… but yeah, I’m not as good as Jacky -.- So far I stocked up on drawing tutorials

Ummm, anyway. I guess Lacus kind of reminds me of you too (from looking at your current Gravatar). ^^;
I also tend to associate things with online people based on how their name sounds to me. :3 So “Vera” sounded kind of classy, feminine and sophisticated. Doesn’t mean I thought you would dress in high-end fashions (I actually don’t know how you dress really :O), but I kind of thought of your physical appearance as that. ^_^; (Oh yeah, I also associate you with anime, but I think
As for the lack of custom shapes in Gimp, have you ever tried using dingbat fonts? ^_^; There are some pretty nice ones out there (the one I use on my layout at the moment is Floralia).

I suppose I’m feminine, in that I like feminine things, however I don’t necessarily dress femininely. I’d say my style is something of a cross between office style and sport (casual). Oh and I never wear skirts/dresses, unlike Lacus.
Ps. It’s a good thing you don’t remind me of I girl I know that’s also named Vera. She’s stuck up and annoying xD

No, not all layouts have to represent the owners, but I think there must be some sort of consistence between maybe the owner, the domain name, the logo, etc. Not necessarily the layout, but a few aspects should be consistent, otherwise it wouldn’t be YOUR personal website. If everyone used WP templates or blogspot and the like, there wouldn’t be that much personality in our blogs, in my opinion. Not everyone is so good at writing that they stand out merely because of it.
I don’t know why you remind me of your hair. Maybe because of the pictures you posted at Snark? Your icons…I don’t know. It’s weird :p

As for motivation, it’ll come to you eventually. Or perhaps the fact that I’m getting my arse back to redesigning sometime soon will spur you on to design along with me too?

That is a hard question. Ever since I saw your avatar on YS.nu (the blue anime one) I just imagine you like the anime character on it… and Vera… I don’t know. I ask myself questions like that all the time with no response. Sooo…. useless comment?
