The Webmistress

The short version would describe me as an incredibly snobbish computer programmer, who likes to indulge in web design. The slightly longer version, formulates the previous statement in a way that makes yours truly seem a perfectionist rather than a snob.

My days start either with me cursing at myself for having yet again stayed up late doing nothing1, or making some Earth shattering resolution. Fortunately for my chronic procrastination skills, extremely few of these resolutions actually survive till midday. I'd never have time to accomplish anything, otherwise. Granted, most of these resolutions are ridiculous, but once in a blue moon a good idea manages to somehow get lost in my scattered brain.

Though I tend to complain a great deal about my oh-so-stressful job, it's actually quite fun and entertaining. My colleagues are all around my age, they're mostly guys (incredibly cute ones at that XP), plus I get to harp about CSS and HTML standards to anyone and am actually understood2.

I'm generally quite keen on making a good impression, though I loathe to suck up. You're probably going to find me a mix of accomodating smiles, excessive politeness, unexpected offers of help, but also snide grins, mean comments and indifferent shrugs. In the end, I suppose that's just my way of trying to become cool. What can I say? I've always been partial to the bad guy, rather than the saintly hero.

As I said before, I'm a snob. I was fortunate enough to have mostly been surrounded by people with an acute competitive nature. Studying has always been quite an interesting and fun challenge to me. My teachers were always urging my class to aim higher. To make things clearer, I've been brought up to always strive to be the best. Compliments tended to be few and far between, therefore earning one made it doubly rewarding. In light of these, I tend to take everything as a competition and view most criticism as a means of becoming better3.

In my free time, when I have miraculously managed to put some distance between the computer monitor and myself, I'm generally out shopping. You're likely to either find me sniffing along the prefume shelves, gawking at the newest 'natural' cosmetics shop's products, or examining various clothes. The downside of all this, is that I tend to buy stuff much too thoughtlessly, and my life long resolution of I'm anything but girly has dwindled away, two measly months after I started working full time.

I'm also somewhat fond of reading humorous stories, and have tried my hand at writing a few. You will find some in this section soon. As these stories are mostly true, they can also be taken as some sort of disjointed autobiography... or well, snippets of one, at any rate.
